Duda rasar i mätningar – ny utmanare har chans i valet
Polens president Andrzej Duda tappar sin majoritet i nya mätningar med bara en dryg månad kvar till presidentvalet, skriver AFP.
Det krävs 50 procent av stödet för att vinna i första rundan, något Duda hade i april. Men två nya mätningar ger honom 35 till 39 procents stöd, ett resultat som skulle öppna för en avgörande runda.
Skiftet inträffar i samband med att det liberalkonservativa oppositionspartiet Medborgarplattformen bytt presidentkandidat till Warszavas borgmästare Rafal Trzaskowski, som snabbt klättrade till en andra plats i mätningar.
Duda har stöd av det nationalkonservativa regeringspartiet Lag och rättvisa.

Presidential elections in Poland were to be held on 10 May 2020 by the decision of the Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek from 5 February 2020. On 6 May the Agreement party (which was opposed to the elections being held on 10 May, due to controversy related to the election) reached an agreement with Law and Justice to set a new date for the elections, yet from a legal standpoint, the elections were still to happen 10 May. The following day, the National Electoral Commission (PKW) confirmed that the election won't be able to take place on 10 May. Polling stations remained closed on 10 May 2020. The re-run of the election is expected to NET 28 June 2020.Incumbent president Andrzej Duda is eligible for a reelection.
