Elizabeth II firar 70 år som drottning – har suttit längst på brittiska tronen
I dag firar Elizabeth II 70 år som brittisk drottning. Bara tre monarker har suttit längre på tronen, skriver TT. Närmare bestämt den franske 1600-talskungen Ludvig XIV, Thailands kung Rama IX som avled 2016, samt Johan II i Liechtenstein för ett sekel sedan.
Jubileet uppmärksammas inte med några större offentliga evenemang, i stället planeras stora festligheter i början av juni. För att britterna ska kunna fira ordentligt har regeringen lagt till en extra helgdag utöver den vanliga tredagarsledigheten, skriver BBC.

The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated in 2022 in the Commonwealth to mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952. The celebration plans were formally unveiled in full by Buckingham Palace on 10 January 2022.In the United Kingdom, there will be an extra bank holiday, and the usual Spring bank holiday will be moved from the end of May to the start of June, to create a four day Jubilee bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June. The British government has promised a "once-in-a-generation show" that will "mix the best of British ceremonial splendour and pageantry with cutting edge artistic and technological displays". This is the first time that any British monarch has celebrated a platinum jubilee.The Australian Government has announced a range of national and community events that will be held throughout Australia to mark the Queen's 70 years on the Australian throne.
