Ex-spionchef föreslås bli nederländsk premiärminister
Den tidigare underrättelsetjänstchefen Dick Schoof ser ut att bli Nederländernas premiärminister, rapporterar AFP.
Koalitionen av högerpartierna PVV, VVD, NSC och BBB meddelade i mitten av maj att man var överens om att bilda regering, men att en premiärminister saknades. Geert Wilders, vars främlingsfientliga och högerpopulistiska Frihetspartiet blev störst i förra årets val, ratades av de övriga partierna.
Koalitionen har nu enats om Dick Schoof, som är villig att ställa upp.
Han är politiskt obunden – hälften av ministerposterna i regeringen går till just obundna experter.

Hendrikus Wilhelmus Maria "Dick" Schoof (born 8 March 1957) is a Dutch civil servant. Since March 2020, he has been secretary-general at the Ministry of Justice and Security. As of May 2024, Schoof is being considered for prime minister by Dutch coalition parties PVV, VVD, NSC, and BBB.
Schoof was born in Santpoort in 1957 and studied at Radboud University. He started his career at the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, then became a civil servant at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in 1988 and deputy secretary-general at the Ministry of Justice and Security in 1996. Schoof later led the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, reformed immigration laws, and restructured the police into a national force. As the head of the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, he faced criticism over the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 investigation. In 2019, Schoof was announced as secretary-general at the Ministry of Justice and Security to address scandals in the Ministry.
