Fem vill ta över efter Blatter – Platini ur racet

Sepp Blatter, som nu stängts av från fotbollen i åtta år, hade redan tidigare meddelat att han avgår från posten som Fifas ordförande.
En av de intresserade kandidaterna var Uefa-presidenten Michel Platini. Eftersom även han stängs av i åtta år är han därmed ute ur leken. Vid valet av Fifa-ordförande, som sker i 26 februari nästa år, finns därmed fem män kvar som gör upp om posten sammanfattar TT:
Prins Ali bin al-Hussein från Jordanien, tidigare vice ordförande i Fifa och utmanade Sepp Blatter vid det senaste valet till ordförande i Fifa.
Fransmannen Jerome Champagne, tidigare diplomat, anställd i Fifa 1999-2010.
Shejk Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa från Bahrain, ordförande i Asiatiska fotbollsförbundet.
Tokyo Sexwale från Sydafrika, diamantmiljardär och tidigare antiapartheidaktivist som satt fängslad på Robben Island i 13 år samtidigt som Nelson Mandela.
Gianni Infantino från Schweiz, generalsekreterare i Uefa sedan 2009.

Ali bin Al-Hussein (arabiska: امیر علی بن حسین), född 23 december 1975 i Amman, är prins av Jordanien och Hussein av Jordaniens (1935–1999) tredje son. Ali är enda sonen till Hussein och drottning Alia som dog i en helikopterolycka 1977, när prins Ali var två år.

Jérôme Champagne (born June 15, 1958 in Paris) is a former French diplomat who served from 1983 to 1998, and then became a consultant in international football, serving as an executive at FIFA from 1999 to 2010. He transitioned from diplomacy to football as a result of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where he was Diplomatic Advisor and Chief of Protocol of the French organizing committee. He then joined FIFA where he successively held the positions of international adviser to the President (1999–2002), Deputy Secretary General (2002–05), Delegate of the President (2005–07) and finally Director of International Relations (2007–10) during the terms of President Sepp Blatter. He left FIFA in 2010 and became football commissioner for the World Festival of Black Arts in Dakar (2010) and an adviser to the Palestinian Football Federation (PFA) and the Palestine Olympic Committee (POC), the Football Federation of Kosovo, the Cyprus Turkish Football Federation (CTFA) and finally the Congolese football club TP Mazembe of Lubumbashi. Champagne was one of many wanting to challenge Blatter in FIFA's 2015 election for its presidency. He declared himself a candidate in September 2014, but withdrew in February 2015 after failing to get enough support. However, in October 2015 he declared himself a candidate for the 2016 election for the presidency following the the corruption investigation and Blatter's suspension.

A charismatic leader, Sexwale was imprisoned on Robben Island for his anti-apartheid activities, alongside figures such as Nelson Mandela. After the 1994 general election—the first fully democratic election in South Africa—Sexwale became the Premier of Gauteng Province. Gianni Infantino (born 23 March 1970 in Brig) is a Swiss football administrator of Italian origin. He has been the general secretary of UEFA since 2009 and holds both Swiss and Italian nationality. On 26 October 2015, Infantino received the full backing of the UEFA Executive Committee to stand for the position of FIFA president in the upcoming FIFA Extraordinary Congress. On the same day, he confirmed his candidacy and that he submitted the required declarations of support. A multi-lingual lawyer, he is married and has four children.
