Hemmahoppet Gauff vinnare i US Open: ”Är i chock”
Amerikanskan Coco Gauff tog sin första grand slam-titel när hon vann US Open-finalen på lördagskvällen. 19-åringen besegrade den blivande världsettan Aryna Sabalenka med 2–6, 6–3, 6–2.
Gauff backades upp av ett stort hemmastöd på Flushing Meadows i New York och när hon vann sista gamet blankt kastade hon sig raklång på banan och började gråta.
– Jag känner mig lite som i chock just nu. Jag är så tacksam, men ska jag vara ärlig så jag har egentligen inga ord för vad jag känner, sa Gauff i segerintervjun.

Cori Dionne "Coco" Gauff (born March 13, 2004) is an American professional tennis player. She is currently ranked world No. 6 in singles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and has been ranked as high as world No. 1 in doubles. Gauff has won six WTA Tour singles titles, including a major at the 2023 US Open, and eight doubles titles – five partnering with Jessica Pegula and three with Caty McNally. Gauff rose to prominence with a win over former world No. 1 and seven-time major champion Venus Williams, in the opening round of 2019 Wimbledon.
Born to parents with NCAA Division I collegiate backgrounds in basketball and track and field, she became the No. 1 junior in the world after winning the junior 2018 French Open singles title and also won a junior major doubles title at the 2018 US Open.
Gauff made her WTA Tour debut in March 2019 at the Miami Open. She received a wild card into the qualifying draw at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, where she became the youngest player in the tournament's history to qualify for the main draw. Later that summer, at age 15, she advanced to the third round of the US Open. Gauff won the WTA Tour singles title at the 2019 Linz Open at age 15 years and seven months, making her the youngest singles title-holder on the Tour since 2004. In 2021, she reached her first major final in women's doubles at the US Open, and reached her first major singles final at the 2022 French Open. In 2023, she won her first WTA 1000 title at the Cincinnati Masters and her first Grand Slam women's singles title at the US Open.
