Vicepresidenten Mike Pence motsätter sig användandet av det 25:e tillägget för att avlägsna Donald Trump från presidentämbetet, rapporterar Business Insider och New York Times med hänvisning till en källa.
Ett hundratal demokrater, liksom enstaka republikaner, har velat att Trumps kabinett åberopar det 25:e tillägget som gör det möjligt att avsätta presidenten om denne inte kan fullgöra sina sysslor.
Både representanthusets demokratiska talman, Nancy Pelosi, och senatens demokratiske minoritetsledare Chuck Schumer har ställt sig bakom kravet.

The Twenty-fifth Amendment (Amendment XXV) to the United States Constitution deals with issues related to presidential succession and disability. It clarifies that the vice president becomes president (as opposed to acting president) if the president dies, resigns, or is removed from office, and it establishes procedures for filling a vacancy in the office of the vice president and for responding to presidential disabilities. The amendment was submitted to the states on July 6, 1965, by the 89th Congress and was adopted on February 10, 1967, the day that the requisite number (38) of states had ratified it.
