Lim Guan Eng (born 8 December 1962) is a Malaysian politician who has been Chief Minister of Penang since 2008 and Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) since 2004. He is the son of Lim Kit Siang, Leader of the Opposition in the Dewan Rakyat from 1973 to 1999 and 2004 to 2008. He is married to Betty Chew Gek Cheng, a member of the DAP and a state assemblywoman in Malacca.

Haji Mohammedd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak (känd med titeln Dato' Sri och namnet Najib Tun Razak), född 23 juli 1953 i Kuala Lipis i Pahang, är en malaysisk politiker som sedan 3 april 2009 är Malaysias premiärminister.Najib Tun Razak kommer från partiet United Malays National Organization (Unmo), en del av regeringskoalitionen Barisan Nasional. Han har suttit i parlamentet sedan han var 23 år gammal. 2009 blev han ledare för Unmo och övertog i mars samma år posten som statsminister efter Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.Han härstammar från en politikersläkt. Hans far var Malaysias andre statsminister Tun Abdul Razak, och morbrodern Hussein Onn var landets tredje statsminister.

The 14th Malaysian general election (GE14/PRU14) will elect members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia on or before 24 August 2018. The 13th Parliament of Malaysia will automatically dissolve on 24 June 2018. The first meeting of the first session of the 13th Parliament of Malaysia was held on 24 June 2013. The Constitution of Malaysia requires that a general election to be held in the fifth calendar year unless it is dissolved earlier by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong due to a motion of no-confidence or at the request of the Prime Minister. The 222 members of the Dewan Rakyat are elected from single-member constituencies using the first-past-the-post voting system. Malaysia does not practice compulsory voting and automatic voter registration. The voting age is 21 although the age of majority in the country is 18. The redistricting of electoral boundaries for the entire country are expected to be completed before the next general election. Elections are conducted by the Election Commission, which is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department. Prior to the election concerns have been raised about the redistricting efforts, including accusations of gerrymandering. The government has been criticized for rushing through the redistricting process and for creating vastly disproportionate districts in opposition strongholds where one MP may represent as many as 10 times the number of constituents as an MP in a government dominated district.
