Lönnmordet fortfarande olöst sex månader senare
Den 7 juli i fjol sköts Haitis president Jovenel Moïse ihjäl med tolv skott i sin bostad i huvudstaden Port-au-Prince. Mordet har bidragit till ytterligare instabilitet i det redan konflikt- och naturkatastrofhärjade landet, skriver BBC.
Enligt haitisk polis låg en grupp på 26 inhyrda colombianska legoknektar, och två haitisk-amerikaner, bakom själva utförandet. Vem eller vilka som planerade dådet är fortfarande höljt i dunkel.
I USA har hittills två personer åtalats för inblandning i mordet. I Haiti, där premiärministern och tillförordnade presidenten Ariel Henry tog makten två veckor efter Moïses död, har tiotals gripits – men ingen har ännu åtalats.

Jovenel Moïse, the president of Haiti, was assassinated on 7 July 2021 at 1 a.m. EDT (UTC−04:00) at his residence. A group of 28 foreign mercenaries are alleged to be responsible for the killing. First Lady Martine Moïse was also shot multiple times in the attack, and was airlifted to the United States for emergency treatment. Later in the day, police killed three of the suspected assassins and arrested 20 more. A manhunt is ongoing for other gunmen as well as the masterminds of the attack. Haitian chief prosecutor Bedford Claude confirmed plans to question Moïse's top bodyguards; none of the president's security guards were killed or injured in the attack.
