Rivalen Juppé besegrad: ”Jag gratulerar Fillon”
Strax efter klockan 21 på söndagskvällen erkände sig Alain Juppé besegrad i den franska högerns primärval. Han sa sig vara stolt över att inte ha kompromissat med sina värderingar under valkampanjen, skriver Le Monde.
– Jag gratulerar François Fillon till segern, sa Juppé och tillade att han nu kommer ägna sin tid helt åt sin roll som borgmästare i Bordeaux.
– Det är också någon som ger mig mycket glädje.

The first round of the 2017 French presidential election will be held on 23 April 2017. Should no candidate win an outright majority, a run-off between the top two will be held on 7 May 2017.
Incumbent president François Hollande of the Socialist Party is eligible to run for a second term. However, the Socialist Party will organise a presidential primary in January 2017.
François Fillon and Alain Juppé are the two candidates who reached the second round of The Republicans presidential primary. The winner of the second round will be the nominee of The Republicans.
Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far-right National Front, is the third significant frontrunner in the presidential race.
