Rivaliserande politiker slåss om makten på Haiti
Efter mordet på Haitis president Jovenel Moïse har en maktkamp mellan två toppolitiker börjat gro, skriver Reuters.
Två dagar innan attacken utnämnde presidenten Ariel Henry som premiärminister i Haiti. Henry hann däremot aldrig oficiellt tilldelas posten innan Moïse sköts till döds.
Nu hävdar Henry att det är han som är landets högsta auktoritet – inte den tillförordnade premiärministern Claude Joseph.
Men landets valberedning säger att makten ska fortsätta att ligga hos Claude Joseph fram tills dess att landet går till val i höst.

On July 5, 2021, he was selected as the next prime minister of Haiti. Two days later, President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated, stalling the transition of power.Henry is a member of Inite, a centre-left and social-democratic party.

Since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on 7 July 2021, Joseph in his capacity as interim prime minister is the de facto political leader in charge of the country, though his official status is legally unclear.His claim to the presidency is also disputed with Joseph Lambert, who was nominated by eight senators of Haiti to replace Jovenel Moïse. Joseph is positioned to lead Haiti until the 2021 Haitian general election has been held and completed. Joseph also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship since 4 March 2020.
