Studie: Nej, muren i Game of Thrones skulle inte hålla
I tv-serien Game of Thrones har muren i norr en central funktion som skydd mot det farliga och okända. Men skulle muren – drygt 200 meter hög, nästan 50 mil lång och gjord av is – ha en struktur som är stark nog att bära?
Svaret är att den snabbt skulle falla sönder, enligt en studie som Washington Post skriver om. Problemet är att is rör sig, enligt Martin Truffer, glaciärforskare vid Alaskas universitet, som räknat på murens hållfasthet.
– Jag gjorde bara några väldigt enkla ekvationer för att bedöma hur muren skulle deformeras under sin egen vikt, säger Truffer till tidningen.
