Analys: Insatserna höjs – väljarna förtjänar respekt
President Joe Bidens uttalande som antyder att demokratin står på spel vid tisdagens mellanårsval i USA höjer insatserna på ett dramatiskt sätt. Det skriver Politicos Jonathan Lemire.
Enligt Lemire kan presidenten ställas inför problem inte bara när det gäller sina egna möjligheter att genomföra politik, utan också det faktum att republikaner Biden kallar ”valförnekare” snart kan inneha tunga poster.

National Reviews Kathryn Jean Lopez går hårt åt både demokrater och republikaner som polariserar landet, och nämner ett par exempel i närtid. Republikaner har skämtat om attacken på talman Nancy Pelosis man, och demokrater har i sin tur förvärrat läget genom att skuldbelägga högern, menar hon.
Hon uppmanar politikerna att se varandra som människor även när det finns stora meningsskiljaktigheter. Det finns alldeles för lite respekt för motståndaren i dag, anser hon.

Democratic campaigning has also highlighted those GOP election deniers who are continuing to make baseless claims about the 2020 presidential results — by putting forward such candidates, the Republicans are sabotaging their own chances.
