La France insoumise (represented in logo as the Greek letter phi, φ; also known in English as Unbowed France, France Unbowed, Untamed France, France Untamed, Defiant France, Rebellious France, Indomitable France, or Unsubmissive France) is a French political movement, launched on 10 February 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, member of the European Parliament and former co-president of the Left Party (PG).
The aim of the movement is to get deputies elected to the National Assembly, during the legislative elections of 2017, in order to implement the programme L'Avenir en commun (English: A shared future) and to summon a constituent assembly, tasked with writing the constitution of a Sixth Republic.
The campaign is directed by Manuel Bompard, national secretary of the PG, its spokesperson is Alexis Corbière, former councilor of Paris and also national secretary of the PG, and its coordinators are Charlotte Girard, lecturer in public law at the Paris Nanterre University and Jacques Généreux, lecturer in economy at the Paris Institute of Political Studies.
