Ökad smittspridning oroar i USA: ”Just nu är jag rädd”
Chefen för USA:s smittskyddsmyndighet CDC varnar för en ”förestående undergång” i takt med att smittspridningen i landet pekar uppåt igen, skriver flera medier.
Vid en pressträff på måndagen sa CDC-chefen Rochelle Walensky att hon lovat amerikanerna att tala klarspråk om pandemin, och att hon just nu ”är rädd” för vad som skulle kunna bli en fjärde våg av coronapandemin.
Förra veckan noterades i genomsnitt 63 239 nya dagliga fall i USA, vilket är en ökning med 16 procent jämfört med föregående vecka. Det skriver CNBC med hänvisning till siffror från Johns Hopkins-universitet.
Walensky menar samtidigt att det finns hopp, och skickar en uppmaning till amerikanerna om att ”hålla ut” och att ta vaccinet när det erbjuds.
