Miljonbelöningar lockar fram fler visselblåsare

Den amerikanska tillsynsmyndigheten Securities and Exchange Commission, Sec, inrättade för en tid sedan ett system där visselblåsare som träder fram med information om oegentligheter i bank- och finansväsendet får en ekonomisk belöning. Det har fått tipstelefonerna att gå varma, skriver Financial Times. Antalet belöningar som ska betalas ut väntas öka rejält under de kommande åren.
Sec har redan betalat ut sammanlagt 107 miljoner dollar, motsvarande över 900 miljoner kronor, till 33 personer som kommit med tips till myndigheten. Ett dussintal tips kommer i genomsnitt in varje arbetsdag, enligt Sec.
– Just nu ser vi 100 miljoner dollar som en viktig milstolpe, och det är det. Men under de kommande åren kommer utbetalningarna per år överstiga 100 miljoner, säger en advokaten Jordan Thomas, tidigare anställd vid Sec, till tidningen.
