Meta ställer in årets upplaga av konferensen F8
Meta har meddelat att årets upplaga av utvecklarkonferensen F8 ställs in. Meta brukar normalt sett presentera större nyheter och visa upp ny forskning i samband med F8, men konferensen har på senare år fått ställas in till följd av coronapandemin.
”Vi tar ett kort avbrott och kommer inte att genomföra F8 under 2022, samtidigt som vi växlar upp när det handlar om nya initiativ som rör internets nästa kapitel: att bygga metaversumet” skriver Meta i ett uttalande.

Facebook F8 is a mostly-annual conference held by Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook), intended for developers and entrepreneurs who build products and services around the website. It was hosted in San Francisco, California until 2016, and moved to a more central Silicon Valley location in San Jose, California in 2017. Previous events started with a keynote speech by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, followed by various breakout sessions concentrating on specific topics. Facebook has often introduced new features and made new announcements at the conference.
The "F8" name comes from Facebook's tradition of 8 hour hackathons.The scheduling of F8 has been somewhat erratic. The 2008 conference was held in late July and the 2011 conference was held in late September. There were no other conferences held in 2009, 2012 and 2013. The 2020 F8 conference, formerly scheduled for May 5 and 6, was not an in-person event. The event was rescheduled for April 25 as an online conference and it was live streamed. The change was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 F8 conference was announced on March 23 as F8 Refresh. On April 6, 2022, Meta Platforms announced that the 2022 F8 conference would be cancelled.
