Analys: Nygamle efterträdaren redo för strid
Den enorma industrikoncernen Tata Group består av mer än 100 företag och står för omkring 5 procent av Indiens BNP. Bolaget styrs av Tata Sons, som till största delen ägs av familjen Tata. Styrelsen i det bolaget har nu oväntat bestämt sig för att kasta ut sin nuvarande ordförande till förmån för hans föregångare: Ratan Tata.
Till de skäl som Bloombergs Subramaniam Sharma, Unni Krishnan och Candice Zachariahs listar för Ratan Tatans comeback hör att han är en del av familjen och att han sedan han senast var ordförande har investerat i framgångsrika startups. Han beskrivs som luttrad och redo att ta strider inom koncernen.

Tata Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate holding company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was founded in 1868 by Jamshedji Tata and gained international recognition after purchasing several global companies. It is India's largest conglomerate. In 2015-16, the revenue of Tata companies, taken together, is $103.51 billion. These companies collectively employ over 660,000 people. Each Tata company or enterprise operates independently under the guidance and supervision of its own board of directors and shareholders. There are 30 publicly-listed Tata enterprises with a combined market capitalisation of about $116 billion as of March 2016). Tata companies with significant scale include Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Teleservices, Titan, Tata Communications and Taj Group.

Ratan Naval Tata, GBE (born 28 December 1937) is an Indian businessman, investor, philanthropist and interim chairman of Tata Sons. He is the chairman of Tata Group, a Mumbai-based global business conglomerate from 1991 till 2012 and again from 24 October 2016 for interim term, and continues to head its charitable trusts. He is the recipient of two of the highest civilian awards of India–Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000). He is an alumnus of The Cathedral & John Connon School, Cornell University & Harvard Business School.

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry (born 4 July 1968) is a Irish-Indian businessman who was chairman of Tata Group, an Indian business conglomerate, between 2012 and 2016. He was the sixth chairman of the group and the second not to be named Tata, after Nowroji Saklatwala. The Economist has described him as "the most important industrialist" in India, Britain & Ireland. He served as the Chairman of Tata Sons till 24 October 2016.
He is the youngest son of Indian billionaire construction magnate Pallonji Mistry.
On 24 October, 2016, the Tata Sons Board voted to remove Mistry as chairman. Former chairman Ratan Tata becomes interim chairman, and a new chairman is to be chosen by February 2017.
