Dom: Apple ska betala ”patenttroll”
Apple ska betala 439,7 miljoner dollar, motsvarande över 3,5 miljarder kronor, i skadestånd till ett ”patenttroll” enligt ett domslut i Texas, skriver Techcrunch. Apple ska enligt domstolen ha gjort intrång i VirnetX patent i kommunikationsprotokollen som används bland annat i appen Facetime.
VirnetX har kallats ett ”patenttroll” då de köpt upp många patent och sedan stämt andra bolag, skriver Techcrunch. Rättstriden mot Apple har pågått sedan 2010 och lär inte ta slut nu – Apple uppger att de ska överklaga domen. Dessutom är det oklart om flera av VirnetX patent verkligen är giltiga, skriver sajten.
