Infantino ny president: ”Fifas kristid är över”
Gianni Infantino efterträder landsmannen Sepp Blatter som president för Fifa. Det står klart efter en andra omröstningsrunda där schweizaren fick 115 röster och närmaste konkurrenten, den bahrainske shejken Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa, fick 88.
– Vi ska återupprätta bilden av Fifa, säger han i sitt tacktal till de samlade delegaterna.
– Fifa har gått genom ledsamma tider, kristider, men den tiden är över.
Omröstningen gick till en andra runda då det var jämnt mellan schweizaren Infantino och al-Khalifa i den första.
Där fick Infantino 88 röster och al-Khalifa 85. Den jordanske prinsen Ali bin Hussein var trea med 27 röster.
I den andra rundan räckte en majoritet, medan det i första rundan krävdes två tredjedelar av delegaternas stöd.

Gianni Infantino (pronounced [ˈdʒanni imfanˈtiːno]; born 23 March 1970 in Brig) is a Swiss football administrator of Italian origin. He has been the general secretary of UEFA since 2009 and holds both Swiss and Italian nationality.
On 26 October 2015, Infantino received the full backing of the UEFA Executive Committee to stand for the position of FIFA president in the upcoming FIFA Extraordinary Congress. On the same day, he confirmed his candidacy and that he submitted the required declarations of support.
A multi-lingual lawyer, he is married and has four children.

Prince Ali bin Al Hussein of Jordan (Arabic: الأمير علي بن الحسين; born 23 December 1975) is the third son of King Hussein, and the second child of the king by his third wife, Queen Alia. He is also the step brother of King Abdullah II. He is a member of the Hashemite family, which has ruled Jordan since 1921 and claims to be descended from the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
