Marijuanabolag i Kanada rusar: ”Luktar bubbla”

It is legal to possess, consume, or grow cannabis in Canada for medicinal purposes under conditions outlined in the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations issued by Health Canada. In June 2015, the City of Vancouver regulated the sale of medical cannabis from municipally licensed dispensaries. The cultivation of the hemp plant of the genus Cannabis (family Cannabaceae) is currently legal in Canada for seed, grain and fibre production only under licences issued by Health Canada.
Police and prosecution services in all Canadian jurisdictions are capable of pursuing criminal charges for cannabis (legal term marijuana) possession and for marketing without a license issued by Health Canada. Despite this, there is a lack of consensus on the legal status of cannabis in Canada, whose federal government intends to legalize marijuana for recreational use. Superior and appellate courts in Ontario have repeatedly declared Canada's cannabis laws to be of no force and/or effect if a prescription is obtained. However, challenges to marijuana laws at the federal level have not yet resulted in the deletion of the appropriate sections from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Since 1997, public opinion polls have found an increasing majority of Canadians agree with the statement, "Smoking marijuana should not be a criminal offence". The most recent national poll conducted by Nanos Research shows that 7 in 10 Canadians are in favour of legalization.
