Although the platform's website crashed immediately after the presale commenced on November 15, 2022, over 2.4 million tickets to the tour were sold that day, breaking the record for the most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day. Nevertheless, Ticketmaster received widespread public criticism and political scrutiny for the debacle in addition to allegations of monopoly within the concert business. Journalists have described the tour as a cultural event, reporting the tour's economic and social impact; various cities have acknowledged Swift with honorary gestures.
