USA kan släppa Huaweichef i utbyte mot erkännande
USA:s justitiedepartement kommer att släppa brottsmisstankarna mot kinesiska telekombolaget Huaweis gripna finanschef i utbyte med att hon medger viss skuld. Det uppger källor med insyn till Wall Street Journal.
Källorna uppger vidare att finanschefen, Meng Wanzhou, hittills har avisat en sådan överenskommelse eftersom hon anser sig vara helt oskyldig. Hon har också nekat till att ge några kommentarer om fallet via sin talesperson.
Det var för två år sedan som Meng Wanzhou greps i Vancouver, Kanada, misstänkt för bedrägeri och brott mot USA:s sanktioner mot Iran för Huaweis räkning.

Meng Wanzhou (Chinese: 孟晚舟; born February 13, 1972; also known as Cathy Meng and Sabrina Meng) is a Chinese business executive with permanent residency in Canada, who is the deputy chair of the board and chief financial officer (CFO) of telecom giant and China's largest privately held company, Huawei, founded by her father Ren Zhengfei.
On December 1, 2018, Meng was detained upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport by Canada Border Services Agency officers for questioning, which lasted three hours. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police subsequently arrested her on a provisional U.S. extradition request for fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud in order to circumvent U.S. sanctions against Iran. On January 28, 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice formally announced financial fraud charges against Meng. The first stage of the extradition hearing for Meng began Monday January 20, 2020 and concluded on May 27, 2020 when a BC Court ordered the extradition to proceed. On February 13, 2020 Meng was personally indicted by the DOJ on charges of trade secrets theft which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment per 18 U.S.C. § 1832.
