Valvinnaren får det ”värsta jobbet i Latinamerika”
Vinnaren i Ecuadors presidentval kommer att ställas inför en stor utmaning, skriver Washington Post. Nämligen att på 18 månader återställa lugnet i nationen.
I den andra avgörande omgången, som genomförs på söndagen, ska väljarna bestämma om det blir mitten-höger-kandidaten Daniel Noboa eller vänsterpolitikern Luisa González som ska ta sig an uppgiften. Vinnaren kommer att sitta vid makten de 18 avslutande månaderna av Guillermo Lassos mandatperiod efter att han i maj upplöste Ecuadors lagstiftande församling.
– Jag tror att det här presidentskapet kommer att bli det värsta jobbet i Latinamerika det kommande och ett halvt året, säger Will Freeman på tankesmedjan Council on Foreign Relations.

Luisa Magdalena González Alcivar (born 22 November 1977) is an Ecuadorian politician and lawyer who is running for President of Ecuador in the 2023 general election. She was elected to the National Assembly in the 2021 legislative elections representing the Province of Manabi.
González served in various positions in the government of Rafael Correa from 2007 to 2017. She worked as the Ecuadorian general counsel in Spain prior to entering politics and briefly was the Secretary of Public Administration under the Rafael Correa administration from January to May 2017. She also served various positions in the Tourism Ministry in the Correa government.
In June 2023, González announced her candidacy for president in the 2023 election, one month after her tenure at the National Assembly ended when the incumbent president, Guillermo Lasso, invoked a measure from Ecuador's constitution known as muerte cruzada. She advanced to the October run-off election after coming in first place in the first round of voting, facing Daniel Noboa.

Daniel Roy-Gilchrist Noboa Azin (born 30 November 1987) is an Ecuadorian business administrator, politician and businessman in the banana industry. He is a presidential candidate in the 2023 general election. He was a member of the National Assembly of Ecuador, between 2021 and 2023. Prior to his political career, Noboa served in several positions at Noboa Corporation, an exporting business founded by his father Álvaro Noboa. He has been widely described as an heir to his father's company and fortune.In May 2023, Noboa announced his candidacy for president in the 2023 snap election running under the National Democratic Action ticket. He advanced to the run-off election in October, facing Luisa Gonzalez, in which many saw as an upset given his low polling numbers in the days leading up to the election.
