284 svenskar vill bli Europas nya astronauter

Närmare 23 000 européer, varav 284 svenskar, har sökt tjänsten som astronaut för Europas rymdstyrelse. Ansökningarna har nästan tredubblats sedan den senaste ansökningsrundan för tretton år sedan, skriver TT.

I platsannonsen eftersöktes även ”parastronauter”, rymdfarare som har någon form av funktionsnedsättning, för att få en bredare rekrytering.

– Under de kommande åren kommer vi att söka ett brett urval av rymdproffs och jag uppmuntrar er att hålla ögonen även på dessa möjligheter, säger ESA:s generaldirektör Josef Aschbacher i en kommentar.
