Rederijättar knyter nytt samarbetsavtal
Det sydkoreanska rederiet Hyundai Merchant Marine har ingått ett samarbetsavtal med transportalliansen 2M, som består av rederijättarna Maersk och Mediterranean Shipping Co. Avtalet stannar vid att rederierna ska kunna handla med frakter sinsemellan och innebär inte att Hyundai går in i alliansen.
”Samarbetet går in så långt som vi hade förväntat oss, men hur som helst innebär avtalet en allians i princip, eftersom vi är garanterade exklusivitet i fraktdelning med 2M-medlemmarna”, uppger Hyundai i ett uttalande.

Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) is a South Korean integrated logistics and containerized freight transport company, with more than 50 sea routes, over 100 ports of call and operating about 138 vessels. Hyundai Merchant Marine is the world's 15th largest container line in terms of vessel capacity. HMM, together with Hanjin Shipping, moves almost all of Korea's exports.

It is the world's largest container shipping company having customers through 374 offices in 116 countries. It employs approximately 7,000 sea farers and approximately 25,000 land-based people. Maersk Line operates over 600 vessels and has a capacity of 2.6 million TEU. The company was founded in 1928.

Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) is the world's second-largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity. As a private company it has no obligation to publish annual reports certified by independent parties; as a consequence, the data MSC releases about itself is not verifiable. As of the end of December 2014, MSC was operating 471 container vessels with an intake capacity of 2,435,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). The Geneva-headquartered company operates in all major ports of the world. MSC's most important port is Antwerp in Belgium. MSC Cruises is a division of the company focused on holiday cruises.
