Ekonom: Paradoxalt att Trump klagar över dollarn
USA:s snart tillträdande president Donald Trump har beklagat sig över att dollarn är för dyr. Ekonomen Barry Eichengreen, tidigare rådgivare åt IMF, tolkar det som att Trump ser dollarkursen som ett hinder för att stärka den amerikanska tillväxtindustrin. Men Eichengreen anser också att klagomålet är paradoxalt med tanke på politiken Trump har utlovat.
– Trump vill ha en blandning av vidlyftig och stram finans- och penningpolitik, vilket stärker dollarn samtidigt som han frustreras av styrkan. Importtullarna han vill införa skulle också driva upp värdet på dollarn, säger han till Reuters.
