Det står i boken ”A race like no other”, som CNN-journalisten Thomas Lake skrivit om presidentvalet.
Under primärvalet hade de två en gemensam fiende i Marco Rubio, skriver CNN. I februari valde Christie att ställa sig bakom Trump, ett beslut som förvånade många.

Christopher James "Chris" Christie (born September 6, 1962) is an American politician and attorney. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been the 55th Governor of New Jersey since January 2010. His term ends January 16, 2018.
Born in Newark, Christie volunteered for Thomas Kean's gubernatorial campaign at age 15. After graduating in 1984 from the University of Delaware, he earned a J.D. at Seton Hall. He practiced law 1987–2002. He was elected county freeholder for Morris County, serving 1995–1998. By 2002, he had campaigned for Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush; the latter appointed him U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, a position he held 2002–2008.
Christie won the 2009 Republican primary for Governor of New Jersey, defeating the incumbent in the general election. He was re-elected in 2013. After the start of his second term as governor, Christie's standing was damaged by the controversy over traffic jams created by his staff.
He was seen as a potential candidate in the 2012 presidential election, but did not run. He was shortlisted for nominee Mitt Romney's running mate, and keynoted the 2012 Republican National Convention. Christie chaired the Republican Governors Association for the 2014 election cycle. On June 30, 2015, he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election. He suspended his candidacy on February 10, 2016 and soon after endorsed Donald Trump, who named him head of his transition planning team. Soon after the election Christie was replaced, and two of his close associates removed from the transition team. Christie still hopes to have a hand in logistics and transportation during Trump's presidency, reportedly expressing interest in playing an "Adolf Eichmann-type role" in the Trump administration.
