Analys: Stor risk för framtida överraskningar i Tencent

Trots större vinst än förväntat så finns det svaghetstecken i jättekonglomeratet Tencents kvartalsrapport, skriver Bloombergs Tim Culpan i en analys. Han pekar bland annat på att tillväxttakten räknat i månatliga användare i chatappen WeChat är avstannande – om än hög med sina 15,8 procent. Antalet användare i bolagets andra meddelandetjänst QQ sjönk också med 3,8 procent.

”En nedgång i användarnyckeltal är oundviklig när WeChat närmar sig taket i Kina”, skriver Culpan, och tillägger att Tencents strategi för att hålla tillväxten uppe bland annat är att satsa på områden som moln- och betaltjänster.

Faran med det är att det i framtiden kommer bli svårare att korrekt förutsäga Tencents sista rad, menar han.

”Risken för framtida överraskningar både uppåt och nedåt växer”.
