Analyser: I bästa fall taktik för att pressa Ryssland

USA:s utträde ur nedrustningsavtalet INF förvärrar ytterligare relationerna med Europa, skriver Björn af Kleen i en analys i DN. Han menar att upphävandet av det 30-åriga avtalet kan tolkas som en bekräftelse på John Boltons ökade inflytande i Vita huset efter att Nikki Haley lämnat in sin avskedsansökan.

Klart är att presidentens beslut att lämna avtalet är ett betydande bakslag för vapenkontroll, menar BBC:s försvarskorrespondent Jonathan Marcus.

Donald Trump tycker sig att ha goda skäl att dra sig ur men INF-avtalet är inte vilket avtal som helst, utan utträdet kan innebära en ökad fara för Europa, skriver Gunilla von Hall i en analys i SvD.

”I bästa fall är detta Trump-utspel en taktik att pressa och skrämma Ryssland till samtal vilket kan leda fram till en kompromiss som bevarar nedrustningsavtalet”, skriver hon.

He began his tenure as National Security Advisor on April 9, 2018. He was a supporter of the Iraq War and continues to support his decision. He has continuously supported military action and regime change in Syria, Libya, and Iran. A Republican, his political views have been described as American nationalist, conservative, and "neoconservative". Bolton rejects the last term and called himself "pro-American" instead.

Nimrata "Nikki" Haley (née Randhawa, born January 20, 1972) is an American politician who currently serves as the 29th United States Ambassador to the United Nations. A Republican, she served as the 116th Governor of South Carolina and is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Haley accepted the nomination, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a 96–4 vote, and was subsequently sworn in on January 25, 2017. As U.N. Ambassador, Haley affirmed the United States' willingness to use military force in response to further North Korean missile tests in the wake of the 2017 North Korea crisis. Haley's tenure as Ambassador was noted for its high degree of visibility.On October 9, 2018, Haley announced that she was resigning her position as Ambassador effective at the end of 2018.
