Fransk seriemördare död på Parissjukhus – låg i koma

Franske seriemördaren Michel Fourniret har dött 79 år gammal på en säkerhetsavdelning på ett sjukhus i Paris, rapporterar franska medier. Han var dömd till två livstidsstraff för att ha mördat minst åtta unga kvinnor.

Fourniret dömdes 2008 för sju mord begångna mellan 1987 och 2001. Tio år senare dömdes han för ytterligare ett mord samt har erkänt fyra till. Hans tidigare hustru Monique Olivier dömdes även hon till livstidsfängelse för att ha hjälpt till vid flera av morden.

Enligt Le Parisiens uppgifter var han sjuk i Alzheimers sjukdom. Den senaste tiden låg han i koma efter att läkarna konstaterat att det inte fanns något mer att göra.

Michel Paul Fourniret (4 April 1942 – 10 May 2021), known as The Ogre of the Ardennes, was a French serial killer who confessed to killing twelve people in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2003. After he was arrested in June 2003 for the attempted kidnapping of a girl in Ciney, Fourniret confessed to killing nine people—eight females and one male—in 2004, having been informed on by his then-wife, Monique Pierrette Olivier (born 31 October 1948). Fourniret was convicted of seven of these murders on 28 May 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole, while Olivier was given life with a minimum term of 28 years for complicity.In February 2018, Fourniret confessed to killing two more women. On 16 November 2018, Fourniret and Olivier were convicted of the murder of Farida Hammiche, the last of the eight females that Fourniret confessed to killing in 2004. Fourniret was given a second life sentence and Olivier was sentenced to a further twenty years' imprisonment. In March 2020, Fourniret confessed to killing Estelle Mouzin, who disappeared from Guermantes in 2003. In August 2020, his former wife, Monique Olivier, confirmed he had kidnapped, raped and killed the schoolgirl, renewing hopes of finding a body in one of France's most notorious unsolved cases. After the disclosure, Olivier was charged with complicity.Fourniret died on 10 May 2021 at the age of 79 after being admitted into the hospital with respiratory problems.
