Kalifornien redo för Trump-strid – anlitar ex-minister

Delstaten Kalifornien har anlitat den tidigare amerikanske justitieministern Eric Holder som rådgivare för eventuella juridiska strider med Donald Trump om klimatförändringar och migration, rapporterar New York Times.

Holder kommer leda en grupp advokater från firman Covington & Burling, skriver tidningen.

– Vi vet fortfarande inte vilka skadliga förslag den kommande administrationer kommer att lägga fram, men tack vare Donald Trumps kampanj, ministerval och hans Twitter-konto har vi en bild av vad vi kommer möta, säger talmannen för Kaliforniens lokala styre enligt Los Angeles Times.

Eric Himpton Holder Jr. (born January 21, 1951) served as the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, from 2009 to 2015. Holder, serving in the administration of President Barack Obama, is the first African American to hold the position of U.S. Attorney General. Holder previously served as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and as United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. While U.S. Attorney, he prosecuted Congressman Dan Rostenkowski for corruption charges related to his role in the Congressional Post Office scandal. Later, he was Deputy Attorney General of the United States and worked at the law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. He was senior legal advisor to Barack Obama during Obama's presidential campaign and one of three members of Obama's vice-presidential selection committee. During the Fast and Furious investigation, he became the only cabinet member in U.S. history to be held in contempt of Congress. He was succeeded by Loretta Lynch on April 27, 2015.
