Näst största partiet allierar sig med militären
Thailands populistiska parti Pheu Thai har bildat en koalition med tio andra partier, varav två allierade är partiets tidigare militära rivaler. Det som i ett försök att bilda en ny regering och avsluta det tre månader långa politiska dödläget, skriver Bangkok Post.
Tillkännagivandet kom dagen före parlamentet ska hålla en omröstning om en ny premiärminister.
Pheu Thai förväntas nominera fastighetsmogulen Srettha Thavisin till att bli landets nästa ledare.
Partiet kom tvåa i Thailands val i maj, men tog över regeringsbildningen efter att konservativa ledamöter i överhuset blockerade försök från det progressiva partiet Kao Klai att ta över premiärministerposten.

The Pheu Thai Party (PTP; Thai: พรรคเพื่อไทย, lit. 'For Thais Party', RTGS: Phak Phuea Thai, pronounced [pʰák pʰɯ̂a tʰāj]) is a major Thai political party and is the third incarnation of a Thai political party founded by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
The Pheu Thai Party was founded on 20 September 2007, as an anticipated replacement for the People's Power Party (PPP), which the Constitutional Court of Thailand dissolved less than three months later after finding party members guilty of electoral fraud. The People's Power Party was itself a replacement for Thaksin's original Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT), dissolved by the Court in May 2007 for violation of electoral laws.As of July 2019, Pheu Thai had 22,771 members. The party is currently led by Chonlanan Srikaew, who has served as the Opposition Leader in the House of Representatives of Thailand since 23 December 2021. The party tends to be more popular in the north and east of the country. It won 141 seats in the 2023 Thai general election, making it the party with the second largest number of seats in the Thai House of Representatives.
