The movement has been associated with multiple ideologies from American nationalism, neo-monarchists to men's rights advocates and people who oppose mainstream conservatism. Commonalities among the loosely-defined alt-right include a disdain for mainstream politics and a desire to challenge to social norms around speech taboos.
