Guy Verhofstadt till attack: Salvini vill förstöra Europa
Den italienske inrikesministern Matteo Salvini och andra högerpopulister är lierade med Vladimir Putin och vill förstöra Europa. Det säger EU-parlamentarikern Guy Verhofstadt i ett videoinlägg på sitt Twitterkonto.
I inlägget utmanar Verhofstadt, som är ledare för parlamentets liberala grupp Alde, Salvini på debatt. Han kopplar också ihop italienaren med den skandalomsusade Heinz-Christian Strache i Österrike och andra högerpopulister i Europa.
– Sådana ledare är betalda av Putin och konspirerar med honom om att förstöra Europa, säger Verhofstadt.

Guy Maurice Marie Louise Verhofstadt (Dutch: [ˈɣiː vərˈɦɔfstɑt] (listen); French: [ɡi vəʁɔfstad]; born 11 April 1953) is a Belgian politician who has served as the Leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Belgium since 2009. He served as the 47th Prime Minister of Belgium from 1999 to 2008, Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium from 1985 to 1992 and Minister of Budget from 1985 to 1992. He was a Member of the Chamber of Representatives from 1985 to 2009.
Since 2009 he has served as a Member of the European Parliament where he is the leader of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and founded the inter-parliamentarian federalist Spinelli Group. He was the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party nominee for President of the European Commission in the 2014 European Parliament election, and is the European Parliament's representative in the Brexit negotiations. He advocates a federal Europe.
