Syrienkännare: ”Det blir väldigt, väldigt blodigt”
”De värsta scenerna under hela kriget.” Så beskriver Syrienkännaren Aron Lund i SVT Agenda de bilder som nu kommer från den rebellkontrollerade sidan av Aleppo. Han säger att många bombningar tycks ske godtyckligt, men att sjukhus slås ut på ett sätt som får det att framstå som att avsikten är att göra det omöjligt att leva i området. Lund tror inte att ett ömsesidigt fredsavtal kan få slut på kriget.
– Tyvärr måste det nog vara så att en sida blir så mycket starkare än den andra att den kan tvinga igenom ett avtal på sina egna villkor, och det är väl ditåt vi rör oss just nu. Det blir väldigt, väldigt blodigt, tror jag.

The Battle of Aleppo (Arabic: معركة حلب) is an ongoing military confrontation in Aleppo, the largest city in Syria, between the Syrian opposition (including Free Syrian Army, Islamic Front and other Sunni militants) in partial cooperation with the Army of Conquest (Syria's al-Qaeda affiliate, al-Nusra Front, is one of the most powerful groups fighting in Aleppo) against the forces of the Syrian Government (supported by Hezbollah and Shiite militants) and against the Kurdish People's Defence Units. The battle began on 19 July 2012 as a part of the Syrian Civil War. The battle's scale and importance led combatants to name it the "mother of battles" or "Syria's Stalingrad". The battle has been marked by the Syrian army's indiscriminate use of barrel bombs dropped from helicopters, killing thousands of people. Hundreds of thousands have been forced to evacuate.
The battle has caused catastrophic destruction to the Old City of Aleppo, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
