Två döda i attack mot Gazas enda katolska kyrka
Två kvinnor har dödats och flera personer har skadats i ett israeliskt anfall mot Gazas enda katolska kyrka. Det uppger läkare vid ett sjukhus enligt Reuters.
Prästen Gabriele Romanelli, som regelbundet brukade uppdatera påve Franciskus om kriget, fick lindriga skador i benen.
I ett inlägg på X fördömer Italiens premiärminister Giorgia Meloni Israels attacker.
”Attackerna mot civilbefolkningen som Israel har utfört i månader är oacceptabla. Ingen militär handling kan rättfärdiga ett sådant beteende.”

The Holy Family Church (Arabic: كنيسة العائلة المقدسة) of Gaza City is the only Catholic church in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
The parish includes a school which provides a Christian education to children in Gaza, and it works closely with the nearby religious congregations of the Missionaries of Charity, Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, and the Rosary Sisters. The Missionaries of Charity care for the elderly and disabled, and the Rosary Sisters operate a school. The community is served by priests from the Institute of the Incarnate Word.
The church's school was bombed by the Israeli Air Force on 7 July 2024, killing four displaced people sheltering on the school's grounds.
