Nya regeringen tar form – Raab, Javid och Patel klara

Boris Johnsons nya regering i Storbritannien tar form. Dominic Raab blir utrikesminister och Sajid Javid blir finansminister. Priti Patel tar över jobbet som inrikesminister efter Javid. Det står också klart att Michael Gove blir kansler för hertigdömet Lancaster, som är en brittisk ministerpost. Ben Wallace blir försvarsminister, Liz Truss blir handelsminister, Gavin Williamson blir utbildningsminister, Nicky Morgan blir digital-, kultur-, medie- och sportminister, Andrea Leadsom blir energiminister och Robert Jenrick blir bostadsminister.

Finansminister Sajid Javid är djupt hedrad över den nya positionen, skriver han på Twitter.

”Ser fram emot att jobba tillsammans med finansdepartementet med att förbereda EU-utträdet, att ena vårt land och att lägga grunden för ekonomin.”

Även Priti Patel har uttryckt glädje över det nya jobbet, skriver Sky News.

– Jag kommer att göra allt som står i min makt för att bevara vårt land säkert, säger Patel i en första kommentar.

Samtidigt står det klart att Stephen Barclay blir kvar som brexitminister.

Dominic Rennie Raab (born 25 February 1974) is a British politician who has been Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs since July 2019. He previously served as Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union in 2018. A member of the Conservative Party, he has also been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Esher and Walton since 2010. Raab was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice on 12 May 2015. When Theresa May appointed her first government a year later, he returned to the backbenches. Following the 2017 general election, he was appointed Minister of State for Courts and Justice. When the government was reshuffled in January 2018, Raab moved to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.In July 2018, May appointed him Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union following the resignation of David Davis. Raab resigned as Brexit Secretary on 15 November 2018, in opposition to the Draft Withdrawal Agreement which he had been involved in negotiating with the EU.

Sajid Javid (; born 5 December 1969) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been Chancellor of the Exchequer since July 2019. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bromsgrove in 2010, and stood for Leader of the Conservative Party in the 2019 leadership contest, finishing in fourth place.Born in Rochdale, Lancashire, Javid studied Economics and Politics at the University of Exeter, where he first joined the Conservative Party. Working in banking, he rose to become a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank. After his election to Parliament, he was promoted to the role of Economic Secretary to the Treasury, and later became Financial Secretary to the Treasury. He was first appointed to the Cabinet in 2014 as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport by Prime Minister David Cameron. He went on to serve under Cameron and Theresa May as Business Secretary, Housing Secretary and Home Secretary, before his appointment as Chancellor by Boris Johnson.

Priti Sushil Patel (born 29 March 1972) is a British politician who has been Home Secretary since July 2019 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Witham in Essex since 2010. She was previously International Development Secretary from 2016 to 2017. . A member of the Conservative Party, she is ideologically positioned on the party's right-wing and has been described as a Thatcherite. Patel was born in London to a Ugandan Indian family. She was educated at Keele University and the University of Essex . She was initially involved with the Referendum Party before switching allegiance to the Conservatives. She worked for the public relations consultancy firm Weber Shandwick for several years, as part of which she lobbied for the tobacco and alcohol industries. Intending to switch to a political career, she unsuccessfully contested Nottingham North at the 2005 general election. After David Cameron became Conservative leader, he recommended Patel for the party's "A-List" of prospective candidates. She was first elected MP for Witham, a Conservative safe seat, at the 2010 general election, before being re-elected in 2015 and 2017. Under Cameron's government, Patel was appointed Minister of State for Employment. A longstanding Eurosceptic, Patel was a leading figure in the Vote Leave campaign during the build-up to the 2016 referendum on UK membership of the European Union. Following Cameron's resignation, Patel backed Theresa May as Conservative leader; May subsequently appointed Patel as International Development Secretary. In 2017 she was involved in a political scandal due to her involvement in secret meetings with the Israeli government. Having breached the ministerial code, she stepped down from the cabinet. A sometimes outspoken figure, Patel has been criticised by political opponents for defending the tobacco and alcohol industries; and for suggesting in an economic treatise that British workers are lazy.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is a ministerial office in the Government of the United Kingdom that includes as part of its duties, the administration of the estates and rents of the Duchy of Lancaster. The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is appointed by the Sovereign on the advice of the Prime Minister.The Chancellor is answerable to Parliament for the governance of the Duchy. However, the involvement of the Chancellor in the running of the day-to-day affairs of the Duchy is slight, and the office is held by a senior politician whose main role is usually quite different. The position is currently held by Michael Gove from the 24th of July 2019.
