Ryska oligarker i bråk om landets största gruva

En lång konflikt om makten över Rysslands största gruva Nornickel har åter hettat upp. 2012 medlade presidenten Vladimir Putin och lösningen var att oligarken och Chelsea-ägaren Roman Abramovichs Crispian Investment köpte 5 procent av gruvbolaget. Nu vill Abramovich sälja sin andel men det vill oligarken och storägaren Oleg Deripaska sätta stopp för – han vill köpa aktierna själv, uppger källor till Bloomberg.

Saken ska nu tas upp i domstol i Storbritannien, skriver nyhetsbyrån.

Oleg Vladimirovich Deripaska (Russian: Оле́г Влади́мирович Дерипа́ска; born January 2, 1968) is a Russian oligarch and philanthropist. He is the founder and owner of one of the largest Russian industrial groups Basic Element. He is the president of En+ Group and United Company Rusal, the second largest aluminium company in the world. After graduating from Moscow State University with a degree in physics, Deripaska became a metals broker specialized in trading aluminium before expanding into energy, machinery, financial services and agribusiness. In 2000, Deripaska founded Rusal, the result of a partnership between Sibirsky Aluminium and Roman Abramovich's Millhouse Capital. In 2007, Rusal merged with SUAL Group and Glencore International AG to form UC Rusal, with Deripaska as chairman. He was once Russia's richest man, worth $28 billion, but nearly lost everything due to mounting debts amid the 2007–08 financial crisis. As of May 2017, his wealth was estimated by Forbes at $5.2 billion. Deripaska is also known for his close ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, as well as his connection to American political consultant Paul Manafort, whom Deripaska employed from at least 2005 to 2009. Deripaska is also the founder of Volnoe Delo, Russia's largest charitable foundation, and is reported to have donated more than $250 million to mostly educational causes. He is married to Polina Yumasheva, step-granddaughter of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin and daughter of Valentin Yumashev, Yeltsin's son-in-law and close advisor.

Nornickel (until 2016 Norilsk Nickel, Russian: ГМК «Норильский Никель») is a Russian nickel and palladium mining and smelting company. Its largest operations are located in the Norilsk–Talnakh area near the Yenisei River, in northern Russia. It also has holdings near the Kola Peninsula at Nikel, Zapolyarny, and Monchegorsk; in western Finland at Harjavalta; in southern Africa in Botswana and South Africa; and in western Australia. MMC stands for "Mining and Metallurgical Company". Norilsk Nickel is headquartered in Moscow and is the world's leading producer of nickel and palladium. It is ranked among the top ten copper producers. The company is listed on MICEX-RTS. The key shareholders are Vladimir Potanin's Interros and Oleg Deripaska's Rusal: each reportedly owns over 25% of shares. In December 2010, Norilsk offered to buy out Rusal's share for US$12 billion, but the offer was declined.
