”AGI i slutet av 2026” – enligt Altmans definition
Open AI tror sig ha en av de stora milstolparna i techvärlden inom räckhåll. Det handlar om AGI, artificiell generell intelligens, alltså AI-system som presterar på jämförbar intellektuell nivå som en människa. Det framgår av en stor artikel i Time där flera ledande personer inom bolaget intervjuas.
Forskningschefen Mark Chen bedömer att Open AI har nått ”80 procent av vägen” till AGI. Vd Sam Altman säger att bolaget inte är där ännu, men räknar med att före årsskiftet ha ett internt system som han själv skulle kalla AGI.
I intervjun säger Altman också att Open AI ”definitivt” kommer att bygga humanoida robotar. En dag, menar han, kommer alla att ha en personlig robot.

Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is a hypothetical type of artificial intelligence that matches or surpasses human capabilities across virtually all cognitive tasks.
Beyond AGI, artificial superintelligence (ASI) would outperform the best human abilities across every domain by a wide margin. Unlike artificial narrow intelligence (ANI), whose competence is confined to well‑defined tasks, an AGI system can generalise knowledge, transfer skills between domains, and solve novel problems without task‑specific reprogramming.
Creating AGI is a stated goal of technology companies such as OpenAI, Google, SpaceXAI, and Meta. A 2020 survey identified 72 active AGI research and development projects across 37 countries.
AGI is a common topic in science fiction and futures studies.
Contention exists over whether AGI represents an existential risk. Some AI experts and industry figures have stated that mitigating the risk of human extinction posed by AGI should be a global priority. Others find the development of AGI to be in too remote a stage to present such a risk.
